“The man who never followed his bliss...may have success in life, but then just think of it--what kind of life was it?...If you do follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you ARE living.”
-- Joseph Campbell, 1988
In Summer 2019 Hanahau’oli School will launch the Progressive Youth Leadership Academy. This program is designed for students entering grades 7-12 who are interested in “finding their bliss,” leading and reflecting on their role in creating a better future society. The program consists of a one-hour seminar that meets from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, plus an adjoining two-hour community service practicum that meets on the same days from 2:00 to 4:00 during the Hanahau’oli After School Care (ASC) program. The seminar will be dedicated to inquiry, reflection, and the development of leadership skills, under the guidance of Dr. Amber Strong Makaiau, Hanahau’oli Director of Professional Development, and Lia Woo, Hanahau‘oli Head of School.
