In June 2021, the same year that the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa College of Education’s Progressive Philosophy & Pedagogy masters degree program was started, the Hanahau‘oli School Professional Development Center launched this blog to create a collective thinkspace for progressive educators, in hopes of furthering the worldwide progressive education movement. In just a few short years, our readership has grown to over 3,600 educators, philosophers, scholars and community members. In celebration of our 99th post, we share a few of our favorite reflections by Hanahau‘oli School’s faculty and staff below.
To commemorate this milestone and all of the great contributions we hope you’ll revisit, we revamped the Progressive Philosophy & Pedagogy blog’s homepage to allow readers to browse posts by key topics in Progressive Education. They include: Progressive Education Philosophy, Pedagogy & Practice, Curriculum, Assessment, Teacher Professional Development, Educator Reflections, Connecting Progressive Education History to Today, and Social Justice Education. In addition to the incredible writers who have contributed to the first 99 publications, we also want to thank our readers. Veronica Kimi serves Hanahau‘oli School as the Professional Development Center Coordinator. Veronica holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from UCLA, a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Chaminade University, and professional experience in marketing, communications, and human resources. She enjoys supporting Hanahau‘oli School’s educators and the greater education community as they pursue the invaluable work of inspiring the next generation of dreamers, thinkers, and doers. Together with her husband Phil, Veronica has three vibrant daughters who make life a true joy.
