The Hanahau’oli Professional Development Center invites you to join us live via Zoom at a free international workshop in which PDC Director, Dr. Amber Strong Makaiau, will serve as a presenter on July 1, 2022, from 10:00pm to 10:45pm.
Alternative and empirically validated pedagogies (Philosophy with Children, Reggio Children, Philosophy for Children Hawaii, Dialogic Education etc.) are proposed to build shared knowledge, encourage the dialogical disposition and argumentative skills of participants, as well as to stimulate their critical, inclusive and respectful attitude, individual expression and mutual co-operation.
The presentations included in this workshop focus on ideological and structural dynamics that can undermine/promote inclusion, while providing future directions that can foster emancipatory, democratic, socially-just and evidence-based forms of teaching and professional practice (e.g interactive and inter-relational forms of teaching and learning, collaborative practices). Improving comparisons between different theories and practices might be educationalists’ crucial opportunity to equip teachers with a wide range of theoretical possibilities and educational tools to face the challenges of future education.
