Hanahau‘oli School seeks responsible, enthusiastic, and caring people to join a vibrant team of committed individuals. After School Camp (ASC) Crew support and care for children in the afternoons by ensuring safe play and experiences, building relationships, and mentoring children in positive peer relations.

School location: 1922 Makiki Street in Honolulu (Oahu) – close to the University of Hawaii at Manoa / Punahou School / Roosevelt High School.
Hanahau‘oli School is an independent/private Oahu elementary school that is dedicated to educational excellence by making learning exciting, challenging, and enjoyable and is committed to “learning by doing.” The learning environment also integrates school life with the home and world and encourages partnerships within the community. The Hanahau‘oli child develops as a unique individual, with a deep sense of groundedness, demonstrated by a respect and responsibility to self and others, within a diverse and global society.
During our After School Camp (ASC) Program, we maintain the same educational excellence and expectations. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide a safe, supervised, and nurturing environment to our elementary-age students
Facilitate a Hui (group) of 14-17 campers
Manage the movement of campers to different campus locations and activities
Oversee and supervise activity time in both indoor and outdoor settings
Supervise and encourage physical and emotional safety among students
Communicate with students related to their physical and emotional well-being
Assist with homework, create arts and crafts activities, join in outdoor play, assist with computer use
Supervise distribution of simple snacks to students
Manage student behaviors in a responsive and reflective manner, actively problem-solving with children
Log students checking in to and out of Camp
Support school dismissal by sending or escorting students to the auto line to be placed into their pick-up vehicles
Communicate with parents and caregivers at pick-up times if needed
Required Skills & Experience
Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
Able to supervise, manage, plan, and implement various activities and movement for elementary-aged students (age 4-12)
Punctual, dependable, self-motivated, and able to collaborate with others
Able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in a timely manner, including consistent email and phone communication (including use of smartphone apps for Crew and/or schoolwide communications)
Demonstrate a passion for working with elementary-aged children
Willingness to learn and grow professionally
Modify interactions with children in a developmentally appropriate manner
Professional, organized, takes initiative, efficient, and flexible
Ability to stay vigilant and committed to school policies regarding safety
Requirements:
US Citizenship (status will be verified with your documents) or work visa
Tuberculosis Test Clearance
Criminal Background Clearance (you will get fingerprinted per Hawaii DHS policy)
High School Diploma or GED
Associate's Degree, or comparable college credit
Experience working with elementary-age children, especially in a school setting
Preferred:
● Bachelor's Degree (preference for an education-related field)
Work Days & Hours:
Part-time (maximum of 19 hours/week)
Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday start time will be either 12:15 pm or 2:00 pm
Wednesday start time is earlier at 12:15 pm, End time varies between 5:00 and final pick-up time of 5:30pm
5 work days per week (Monday through Friday) is strongly preferred for continuity of care for students, and to allow you to become familiar with the school, procedures, and other staff
Wednesdays are a mandatory work day
Work days are days that Hanahau’oli School is in session (we follow two semesters per year: Fall and Spring)
Non-work days are weekends, most holidays, and some school-specific holidays
